Viewing Safety Tips

• Always bring a friend or family member when viewing a property

• Schedule viewings during daylight hours when possible

• Meet in public areas first before going to the property

• Inform someone of your viewing location and expected return time

• Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave immediately

• Verify the person showing the property is the actual landlord or agent

Landlord Verification Process

All landlords on CampusHub Housing undergo a verification process to ensure legitimacy. The process includes:

• National ID or passport verification

• KRA PIN validation

• Business registration confirmation (where applicable)

• Phone number and email verification

• Ongoing monitoring for suspicious activity

Look for the verified badge on landlord profiles to confirm they have completed our verification process.

Scam Prevention

Watch out for these common scams:

Too good to be true: Luxury properties at unrealistically low prices

Upfront payments: Demands for deposit before viewing the property

Pressure tactics: Claims that others are about to book the same property

No physical viewing: Reluctance to allow in-person property inspections

Payment outside platform: Requests for direct bank transfers or mobile money

Fake landlord: Someone claiming to be the owner of a property they don't own

Remember: Never send money before viewing a property or signing a lease agreement.
