Landlord Listing Policy

Standards and requirements for listing properties on CampusHub Housing

Verification Requirements

Before listing a property, all landlords must complete our verification process:

  • • Valid government-issued national ID or passport
  • • KRA PIN certificate
  • • Proof of property ownership or authorized management agreement
  • • Active Kenyan phone number for verification
  • • Business registration certificate (for property management companies)

Verification documents are stored securely and never shared publicly. Only your verified status is displayed on your profile.

Listing Standards

All property listings must meet the following standards:

  • • Complete and accurate property descriptions
  • • Clear property type classification (hostel, bedsitter, one bedroom, etc.)
  • • Valid location information including proximity to campus
  • • Accurate capacity, bedroom, and bathroom counts
  • • Disclosure of all utility costs and additional fees
  • • Compliance with all applicable zoning and rental regulations

Image Requirements

High-quality images help students make informed decisions:

  • • At least one clear, well-lit photograph of the property
  • • Images must be of the actual property being listed
  • • No stock photos, heavily edited images, or misleading angles
  • • Multiple angles recommended (exterior, living areas, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom)
  • • Maximum file size: 5MB per image
  • • Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP

Pricing Rules

Transparent pricing is essential to our platform:

  • • All prices must be stated in Kenyan Shillings (KSh)
  • • Clearly specify the price frequency (monthly, weekly, daily, yearly)
  • • Disclose all additional costs (utilities, maintenance fees, security deposit)
  • • No hidden fees or last-minute price changes
  • • Promotional pricing must include the standard rate and promotion period
  • • Price changes require 30 days notice to active inquiries

Property Accuracy Requirements

Maintaining accurate listings benefits everyone:

  • • Property location must be accurate within 100 meters
  • • Distance to campus must be honestly represented
  • • Available dates must be current and regularly updated
  • • Property status (available/booked) must be kept up to date
  • • Amenities and features listed must exist and be functional
  • • Any material changes to the property must be updated in the listing

Non-compliance with these policies may result in listing removal, account suspension, or permanent ban from the Platform.
